I have to say it has been a while since one of my stories have made it onto the blog. I don’t want to point any fingers at anyone but I put all my articles under the back door…..
Anyways things have been quite busy for me. I had become the lead singer in the band down at the Watering Hole so I spend most of my evenings there. You may have noticed my absence. A couple of mice noticed I was preoccupied as well and decided to move into the garage. I let the boss know a number of times but it took him a good while to get to taking care of that. Once he got serious however I was happy to see the whole clan pack their bags and head out.
It is a busy time in the neighbourhood as well. With all the extra field equipment on the roads things are quite dangerous for us critters. Not a night goes by that there is not some sad story of family’s homes being destroyed as combines and tractors crush to nothing a whole summer’s worth of work. The community is on high alert. None of the field folk feel safe. Just last week, Toady Toad’s whole family was wiped out when the harvesters came through his field. He lived off twenty mile creek road. A real tragedy, he is trying to pick up the pieces and move on but these things take time.
You might have noticed that my fur has gotten a lot thicker in the past few weeks. I have been scratching at the door every night asking for treats because I heard this winter is going to be as cold as last. I’m not going to be caught unaware this year.
Please feel free to pass on any extra cuddles you might have to give out. I can always use some extra loving.
