So, did you miss me? I am sure you all noticed my brief absence this week. I was away for a couple of days doing some very exciting things! Don’t for a minute believe that only you guys are allowed to just up and leave on a last minute exciting adventure.
Remember how I told you last week that I was trying out for the position of drummer in the band? The one that plays at the Watering Hole on Friday nights? Anyways, I am pleased to announce that I have been selected to fill this honoured position. Given, the competition was sadly lacking, however I am confident that my musical talents really do merit such a prestigious position.
So, in a whirl wind of activity, I got the job and they tell me that the very next day we are heading clear across Smithville to do a gig. This was my lucky day! I have never been that far from home and I have to say that I have been itching to see some more of the world, get some traveling done. I grabbed my toothbrush and joined the gang.
Being in the big city …. Words are hard to find to describe all the things I saw for the very first time. The noise was just something else. Cars were zipping around everywhere! The mansions that big people need to live in were packed tight together … no breathing room really. The smells of exhaust and frozen litter were almost nauseating if I am honest with you.
Anyway, we arrived at the Dusty Barrel with some time to spare. We rested up and then got our groove on. I have to tell you, we sounded just fine. It was great meeting a whole new crowd of creatures. I am sure you will all be thrilled to know that I did bump into a cousin of Ken the Killdeer. He said Ken is also back in town. That means that spring is finally here! I couldn’t begin to tell you everyone I met up with but it was really a lot of fun meeting new people. I have to say, the Smithville crowd is a real nice bunch. There was this one girl….
I was tempted to ask around a bit for some more information about my old friend Patches. Who knows, maybe someone there knows where she could have moved off too. But when I approached some of the older guys and threw out some questions they shut me down real quick. I guess you just don’t ask too many questions about old friends. It did seem a little suspicious to me, how quickly they shut me down. I am not sure where I will go with this, but I am pretty sure they were covering something up. I know that survival of the fittest is the law of the land for us creatures but I can’t ignore the questions I now have in my heart. I will keep you posted.
I have some more practicing to do. We are playing a new number this weekend. Get out there and enjoy the fresh air!
