I am trying really hard to stay positive but I have to be honest with you: this sore foot is really getting to me.  It is still too sore to walk on and you can just imagine how that has limited my activities this week.  I have to say that when I do go out and I look back on my paw prints in the snow (a bit of a past time of mine) it hurts my pride to see only three where there should be a regal four.  It also hurt my pride to discover that a family of mice has moved into the garage.  Downright rude if you ask me … to get to a guy when he’s down and out.  My speed is not what it should be and so I just have to watch them pulling faces at me from a safe distance.  I am warning you though, if they get any closer with their degrading talk and taunting …. They’re outahere!!!  Anyways, their presence is also hurting my reputation.  What kind of a cat allows mice to co-habitat.  NOT the Smokester (it’s a bit of nick name some of my friends made up … kinda catchy, don’t you think?)

I was really hoping that when old King Cole from next door stopped in for a visit those miserly mice would make themselves very scarce.  He used to rule the region back in the day and he still holds a lot of power.  The last thing I need is him thinking I can’t keep my digs clean.  He smelt something funny right off but I passed it off as the younger boy’s winter boots – they can smell something fierce.  I was glad when he couldn’t stay long.   He seemed a little concerned about the possum still being around.  I could honestly say I haven’t seen hide-nor-hair of him.   Of course, I have taken to closing my eyes as I scoot past the front porch.  Just my nerves I suppose.  I did a thorough check under the deck and he is not there.

I am a little worried about this bum paw of mine.  So was Cole, I could tell, though he didn’t say anything.  I heard the Father talking to the Mother the other night.  He wants to look at it.  Said something about asking Google.  I have never met this Google guy but they sure do talk about him a lot.  I just hope they don’t try some of their own home remedies.  And I really hope they don’t decide to trade me in for a younger model.

Even the milk isn’t what it should be …. It is so cold lately it freezes before I can drink it all.  I’m just not much in the mood for ice cream these days.

I know I’m a bit grouchy, a bit of cabin fever setting in I guess.  I just need to go on a long romp … with all four feet!  As they say, “the sun will come out tomorrow” …. Or next month.
